Paul,
At the minimum, you need only Wavelink to connect 2 computers for rendering.
It is based on parnet and comes with the special cable needed to hook it up.
I think it's under a hundred bucks, and that makes it hte cheapest solution.
On the Envoy side, you'll need two network cards, software, cabling and
perhaps even screamernet software. I have a poormans rendering farm...
(windowbox garden actually) parnet only. I can set one machine to render the
first half of the frames and the other... yep... the other half.
When done I'll transfer them via parnet to one machine and viola!
(Don't use parnet to save to the other computer's drive, because parnet uses
too much cpu time when in use, major slowdown of the rendering process!
